Symantec's AV kills WMDC?

I posted about removing Symantec AV the other day and replacing it with TrendMicro’s AV.  Since then, Windows Mobile Device Center has worked flawlessly.

I’ve posted in the past about my disdain for WMDC, saying it was nothing more than a beta product that was released too early.  Well…I may have to eat those words.  My problems stemmed from my mobile device never updating because it would connect and then immediately disconnect.  It wasn’t something that was readily apparent, I’d have to watch it pretty closely to detect that it wasn’t conencting properly.

Here, I thought, Microsoft had done a pretty crappy job on WMDC, but it was, instead, yet another problem with Symantec.  I should have guessed, but I was too trusting of my AV choice.

I guess I’m going to have to write this down somewhere so that when I have computer problems in the future, I’ll first check to see if any Symantec apps have snuck their way onto my computer.  You live, you learn.  Hopefully, I actually learned my lesson this time.

I searched Symantec’s site for potential answers to this problem — it yielded nothing except links about how to buy their AV product for mobile devices.
