Uninstalled Norton Internet Security today

As I posted before, my new laptop came with Norton Internet Security pre-installed with a 60 day trial period.  I decided to go ahead and purchase a full license.  I did that a week or so ago and just today I got around to trying to apply the new license.

Well — to apply the purchased license you are required to remove the current installation.  What?  OK.  So, that’s a bit screwy.

Anyway, that’s what I’m doing today.  Uninstalling the current version of Norton Internet Security and then installing the purchased version.

So, here’s my new quandry.  As I’m writing this, the installed verson is uninstalling itself.  It’s been uninstalling for 35 minutes so far and still doesn’t seem like its quite through.  I didn’t intend for an uninstall to take so long.  What the heck is it doing?

I’m a bit scared anyway that Norton has soooo many hooks into the OS that it will leave fragments of itself all over place.  Maybe, the longer it uninstalls means that it is really scrubbing itself from the system.  So, maybe I should be happy its taking so long.

<twiddling thumbs>
